Our initial consultation
Our initial consultation allows us to develop a comprehensive holistic healing plan for you. During this meeting, we will review your medical history and explore the emotional and spiritual dimensions of your pain through open dialogue.
Our approach includes acupuncture treatments to address localized discomfort and release holding patterns, while simultaneously targeting underlying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) imbalances. Each session may also incorporate adjunct therapies such as cupping, gua sha, massage, and meditation to enhance your healing experience.
Here are the therapies in detail:
-
Acupuncture
Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM) is Jodi's specialty, a progressive method that blends Classical Chinese, French, and Japanese meridian acupuncture with Western myofascial trigger point release. This approach effectively alleviates symptoms arising from structural and energetic imbalances, often linked to stress, which acupuncture is well-suited to address.

Gua Sha
Gua Sha, meaning "scrape away fever or wind," is great for musculoskeletal and immune issues, especially during cold/flu season. It involves rhythmically rubbing a balm-lubricated, rounded tool (like jade or a coin) over skin, often on pain sites or the back. This creates micro-trauma in fascia, boosting healing via increased blood and nutrients, causing temporary skin discoloration.
Gua Sha helps move stagnant lymph (Ayurveda's "Rasa"), key for immunity, as superficial lymph benefits from this technique since lymph needs movement. Stress hinders lymph flow, making Gua Sha valuable for drainage.
Beyond pain, it benefits menstruation, repetitive strain, immunity, depression, colds, flu, fever, fibromyalgia, strains, sprains, and spasms. Research shows pain reduction and antioxidant effects, aligning with TCM's adaptogenic view of balancing energy for conditions like headaches or fevers and supporting immune responses. Hydration helps post-treatment waste removal.
-
Cupping
Cupping has a similar effect to Gua Sha. It helps to release the exterior of your body, such as tension build up allowing for more blood flow and release heat such as a fever.
-
Tui Na / Massage
Tui Na is a traditional Chinese massage therapy that uses techniques like kneading, pressing, and stretching to improve energy and blood flow, ease muscle and joint pain, and reduce stress.
Deep tissue massage targets deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue using slow firm strokes and focused pressure. It helps relieve chronic tension, break down scar tissue, and improve range of motion.

Meditation
Guided meditation is a great way for you to relax into your body, clear your mind, and open your heart, especially if your issue is in part emotional or spiritual, as it often is. All healing begins with opening the heart.
Meditation is often something I help guide a person to do while lying on the table with the needles in. Acupuncture in and of itself can help raise your vibration and clear old and negative energy, but with guided meditation during your treatment, your healing can move faster as the vibrational level of your body is raised.Meditation classes that I offer in the studio provide a supportive environment for you and others to learn the art of meditation and breathwork. Please know that it's perfectly normal to find solo meditation challenging, so if you've tried and felt it wasn't working, be kind to yourself. Remember, meditation is a practice, much like any other skill that requires dedication. My classes can help you deepen your understanding and further cultivate your meditative journey.
Group meditation creates a bond within a group, and allows you to all gain from one another’s energy. Through this shared experience, you'll discover that meditation cultivates a profound awareness of our interconnectedness, a universal energy source from which we can all draw strength – whether you perceive it as divine, universal, or simply the energy of life. Together, we'll explore your beliefs and deepen your meditation practice.
My group meditation sessions incorporate guided breathwork exercises, transitioning into a 10 to 20-minute sitting meditation, tailored to your comfort level and experience.
